- Every submission is encrypted at rest and in transit. No employee, family member, or third party can read your vault while you are alive. Your keys are tied to your account, and no automated timer, inactivity trigger, or family request can unlock it.
- What actually triggers a release?
- Identity verification and confirmation of death through an approved verification process — typically a certified death certificate submitted by an authorized party. Nothing releases without that verification.
- Who receives what I've left behind?
- You decide. Each item — a letter, video, chapter, recording, or photograph — can be routed to a specific recipient, a group, or made publicly viewable as a memorial after release. Anything unassigned remains sealed.
- What kinds of things can I preserve?
- An autobiography, private letters, video and audio messages, family recipes, journals, photographs, genealogy, business lessons, apologies, forgiveness, faith reflections, bucket lists, final wishes — anything text, image, audio, or video.
- Can I edit or delete my vault while I'm alive?
- Yes. Your vault is fully editable during your lifetime. Add, revise, or remove any item at any time. Once verified release occurs, the vault becomes permanent for its chosen recipients.
- What happens if I stop paying my subscription?
- Your vault remains encrypted and preserved during a grace period, and we notify you before any content is at risk. Lifetime legacy memberships remove this concern entirely — the vault is preserved permanently.
- Is this a will? Do I still need one?
- No. Secret Until Death preserves your voice, story, and personal messages — not your estate. It complements a will; it does not replace legal documents about property, guardianship, or finances.
- Can my family access the vault if I'm incapacitated?
- No — the vault opens only after verified death. If you want trusted people to have access sooner, you can grant them permissions from within your account during your lifetime.
